...for modern cars, Audis tend to be some of the most photogenic cars around. Their geometry just lends itself to some really dramatic composition. Your thoughts Oppo phototogs?

I drove an RS5 yesterday and while walking back toward the car, I couldn't help but take a photo. It is a struggle to find a single angle or line I don't like on modern Audis

I completely agree. Some cars look better from certain angles, but Audis are consistently good. They can be made to look fat, but it's not nearly as easy as it is on a BMW.

Well yes, generally, except this view, which induces vomiting in some of us.

It's the teutonic Bauhaus-ish thing going on that I like, not that I know why the heck I think it's a bit Bauhaus.

Being an Audi fan and an aspiring amateur photographer, I wholeheartedly agree. Just some examples:

And that doesn't include the A5/S5/RS 5 coupes or the R8. :)

Agreed.
Astons are painful to photograph even though they look good because they need that specific angle to work well, at least in my experience.
Audis are clean, straight forward and have enough of a blend of sweeping lines and hard edges that make the photos interesting on their own right without resorting to fancy techniques or locations.

I have an RS5 and I can't walk away from it without sneaking a second look.

Wow man an RS5! Someone is winning at the game of life. What color? Haven't seen you here before, new to Oppo/Kinja?

Yep, Audi makes beautiful cars. I thought my B6 Avant was the sexiest wagon ever (and sometimes I regret selling it)

Dat Allroad...

New-ish. I read Jalopnik fairly often. It's a 2014 in dark grey (Titanum grey I think?) Great car. I've heard a fair amount so far about how the M3 is the better choice, but I can't drive that in the winter where I live.
edit: I was thinking of Daytona Grey with the Titanium package
edit 2: Everything the reviews say is true, except for one thing: the ride is not hard at all. Maybe they changed it for 2014, but I couldn't imagine finding it hard unless I came straight from a Rolls Royce or something like that.

There's something about the A5/S5/RS 5 coupe line that makes me want to just stare at them, up close or from a distance. I guess I can be lucky enough to have one to stare at and make into a subject of many a photographs :)

I spent quite a bit of time post-processing that photo as there was a lot of harsh lighting (both overhead and sun coming through the windows of the old terminal store design).

This is another take on that same allroad, but with a bit better lightning

I'm sure it's mostly BMW fanbois saying that. Sure the M3 is an amazing car but sometimes a vehicle speaks to you beyond the spec sheet and lap-times. For me there is something about the Avants that draws me...can't explain it, but that's OK.

Are you a photoshop or lightroom man?

Hahaha, I'd imagine. I love the RS4 too. If I was put on the spot, I'd probably still pick the 5, but there's something to be said about all that utility.
Jalops/Opponauts probably say they can handle an M3 in the snow, and that might even be true, but I can't imagine anyone being relaxed in an M3 in winter.

Lightroom for 97% of my needs and Photoshop for the 3% of the work when I really need to do major work removing/repairing problem spots.

Daytona Gray would be the non-Exclusive dark gray for the RS 5.

And is the M9 still your weapon of choice?
![]() 09/01/2013 at 23:19 |

That's the one. It's a beautiful colour. For a while, the website didn't have it in the configurator (at least in Canada) so I was worried they stopped selling it. Thankfully, they didn't, but until it came, I was worried it'd be Suzuka grey.

Although I have been using my RX100 more lately, the M9 still gets a bit of use when I really want to exploit the 21mm lens or convert to B&W.
